2016 Conference
On November 5th, 2016, TLI and the Bristol County Agricultural High School hosted the first annual Southern New England Livestock Conference. The goal of the conference was to provide a platform to share information on best practices for humanely raising livestock, humane handling and processing, and marketing of meat products. Our program covered topics including animal nutrition, soil management for pastures, grazing and pasture management, exploring the rules and regulations for livestock farmers, health care and humane treatment of farm animals, adding value to your meat products, and much more. The conference had more than 20 different seminars including talks for all levels from those interested in getting animals for the first time to established livestock farmers.
The conference also featured a livestock farmer expo, with businesses and organizations that service, promote, educate, and are relevant to raising livestock.
2016 Conference Keynote Speaker: Amado Baeza, the Chief Operating Officer for The Livestock Institute of Southern New England's new slaughterhouse and processing facility. Amado has extensive and diversified experience in the meat processing industry, managing both large and small facilities. With over 25 years working in processing facilities, Amado will reflect on how the industry has changed, where it is headed and how small-scale facilities fit into the evolving food landscape.
